When his wife and two children were killed, he joined a paramilitary Special Forces unit in Vietnam. During a mission, he discovered and executed the double agent Jason Bourne.
He took the name years later when he was recruited for Treadstone. At the novel's end, it is revealed that "Bourne" has recovered from the encounter with Carlos and presumably lives together with St.
He remains the only one to ever have seen the face of Carlos and may be able to recognize him, but is unable to do so due to his erratic memory.

Matt Damon gefällt mir als schauspieler ebenfalls sehr gut! Ein wirklich sehr guter Film. Sehr Spannend, viel Action und eine gute Besetzung.
Den Film kann man sich ruhig mal anschauen. Mir hat er echt gut gefallen. Ungefähr genau so gut wie der zweite Teil!
Simples Konzept, effektiver Film. Ein Mann ohne Gedächtnis sucht nach seiner Vergangenheit — diese schon tausendmal runtergeleierte Story mündet in dieser Variante in einem spannenden Agententhriller wenngleich die Auflösung am Ende ungemein simpel und der Showdown alles in allem recht spärlich ausfällt.
Insgesamt ist der Film nicht so actionreich wie er sich selbst verkauft, die Schwerpunkte liegen mehr im Bereich Story und der Mehr erfahren.
