There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. My introduction to Top Gear UK happened when friend showed me a video clip of a Toyota Hilux that survived being hit by a wrecking ball, drowned by the ocean, and left on top of a building that was about to be demolished.

I knew right off the bat that the show was funny because Jeremy Clarkson, the show's main presenter, prior to literally almost destroying the Toyota Hilux, scraped it up against a rock wall that must have been four centuries old, in a small England town, and sarcastically commented that the damage to the Hilux would "buff out".

From there, I went on to watch the Top Gear UK Bolivia special, and laughed as Richard Hammond lost it on camera and freaked out about small insects that were "squeaking at him", James May almost killed Jeremy Clarkson with a machete, and Jeremy Clarkson, after surviving the machete attack, came within inches of dying on the Bolivia Death Road by toppling off a cliff.

I was especially amused by Jeremy Clarkson's commentary, about how they "bickered for a while" as they were waiting for cars to arrive, and that their duty, when a fellow man's car stopped working, was to "leave him behind".

Sure, as an American, I had no idea who half the original British guests were, would never be able to afford anything but something similar to the reasonably priced car, and didn't quite understand what a "quid" was, but no matter, this was pure entertainment, and created a renewed enthusiasm for cars I had not known since boyhood.

Sure, the show became better when James May replaced Jason Dawe after Series 1, but either way, this show was a classic, and always will be a classic well, at least up to Series 22 , because the presenters, as a trio, are brilliant, in spite of the fact that none can pronounce simple words such as coupe or aluminium correctly, and seem to have a hatred for cheese.

What the heck is a bonnet? And a boot? It doesn't matter if like me, you are a fat American, and don't know the answers to these questions, because in time, you will learn, and find yourself entertained for hours, even if your cousin's friend's sister's roommate doesn't like Jeremy Clarkson because he offended her based on the brand of yogurt she was eating.
