Expendables 3 is a romp through fun. Nobody ever claimed this franchise was for the Mensa folks although I don't see why they wouldn't like it too.
Barney Sylvester Stallone is in an op with his team when they see Stonebanks Mel Gibson another finding member of the Expendables.
Stonebanks had gone rogue and was eventually thought to be dead. Bonaparte Kelsey Grammer tells Barney be will need a younger crew to get Stonebanks.
When the youngsters get themselves captured attempting to capture Stonebanks, the older crew activates to get there kids and Stonebanks.
It's not a movie you'll remember vividly the next day nor is it going to leave you wondering why loose ends haven't been cleaned up.
When the movie is over the only thing it leaves room for is Expendables IV. Another great combination of action and humor with some of the best action stars in the business.
They each have their strengths and each adds contrast to the veteran cast. Are they meant to replace the aging cast? Time will tell. It is easy to tell that a fun time was had by all cast and crew, especially by the Director, and that remains true to this franchise.
I thought it was a lot of fun too. My rating is based on the total package as well as the movie.

I saw this movie twice just to make sure it was as good as I thought it was the first time 'round Patrick Hughes used a lot of powerful close ups of facial camera shots to contrast the aged faces of experience with that of the baby smooth faces of the inexperienced expendable team members.
The close ups were powerful. The action scenes extend for long periods of time and seem to pass by quickly Sly writes most of his movies and has the actors jousting with witty one-liners back and forth to make the long action scenes seem concise and to the point.
Sly's Expendables movies are getting better and better and Sly is the glue that keeps it together and makes it work. I can easily see 3 more movies in this series.

I remember watching this in the cinema and it was an ok film, but the discs for this all I've tried buying a few times from a few places, all first hand so I'm confident it's not second hand scratched disc bad luck fail about 15 minutes from the end of the movie.
The characters are trapped in a tower block, tanks are closing in, and then it freezes. Something is clearly wrong with the manufacture of this film's DVD release.

Also if you are fans of the leading role actors they are as good in these films as all the other films they have made and starred in.
Get ready and enjoy another action packed film. So to my review,yep the film is good,loved the first two and would say they were excellent,but why oh why make the third a 12 cert,its just ridiculous,hence my headline for this review and me knockin a star off,thats what i loved about the other ones,you actually saw the damage the bullets,knife,did hence makin it more realistic,this was all a little silly really,loads of good action,but no decent blood splatter!!
Hopefully there won't be an Expendables 4! Not the worst film in the world but I think the idea of an elite team of ageing mercenaries is wearing a bit thin!
Adding a new superstar actor to the cast each outing will only work for so long! I am sure all concerned enjoyed making the film,but all involved are capable of much better!
