The few people hwo dislike the film are either people comparing it to the book, or someone of a pc cultural, if you are comparing to the book fair enough it is far diffrent than what the movie is and i would understand.
The pc on the other end is more of the same crap, cannot say that, this is offensive, etc and all they do is make statements, they do not give the film a chance, much like what they do to other things and it's almost degrading.
I do not speak any German but even reading the subtitles made me laugh out loud, i would definitely recommend it. Or is he?
It actually does appear that Adolph Hitler has reappeared, waking up in the ground surrounding the Reichskanzlei in Berlin. Everything about him seems genuine--down to his incredulity at flat-screened TVs.
One can imagine his thoughts about the many uses of propaganda 70 years after the end of WWII, give or take But he is amiable, save for being caught shooting a small dog on a video before he becomes a bit of a cult hero.
His "programme" appears just as it was I would call this a comedy, but it is too pathological Germany and Germans have not changed that much as it appears here.
I believe the opposite, as I know my 2nd and 3rd generation post-war Germans. I give it 5 stars only because of the paradox that flourishes throughout--is Germany better off ethnically German, or not?
We see in the film a prosperous Germany, but that is not the scene today with burgeoning welfare recipients and tent cities. Except for his seeming lack of awareness of war crimes, he hates Jews oops!

My Blue Ray unit is 6 years old, and this Blue Ray disk plays a-okay! I must admit first it's kinda slow. And a couple moment in the film you could feel the actors trying to hard or over acting.
But this film is a master piece for what it became. I'm not sure what reactions they excpected to get with the public but I doubt they were think that everyone younger would be happy to see hitler walking down the street in Germany.
It a shocking, funny and arguably disturbing film that shows what modern gerations truly feel about hilter. It's a controversial film and I have the highest of recomendations!

There are wonderfully droll scenes in this film, but it also includes profound soul searching for Germans right at a time when Neo-Fascism is raising its ugly head in Europe and in the U.

I have read Timur Vermes' book and greatly enjoyed it and the film stays true to it in spirit on the whole and in fact for much of it. If dark, satirical humour is your thing, and your politically-correct antennae are not too sensitive, I would heartily recommend this.
A brave and well acted comedy drama about Hitler being transported through time and ending up in Germany in the year To many Hitler and the Nazis are not a funny subject given their history, but in reality the film is a complete parody of Hitler and an anti Nazi film if ever there was one.
However, it is very funny in parts and cleverly made. The scenes from real German streets with Hitler interacting with normal Germans are hilarious but also scary in parts to think that there are ordinary citizens out there who would welcome the Fuehrer back to power with open arms.
One of my favourite movies for quite a while, very funny but has a serious side to it, a mirror onto Germany society but potentially any society. You'll only get subtitles with this film, but that's better than losing the German.
